Jingbian Tutoring

01 · Project Overview

Jingbian Tutoring is a tutoring service platform that connects families of primary and secondary school students with qualified university student tutors.

The project aims to reduce information asymmetry in the tutoring market, help families discover suitable tutors more efficiently, and provide capable university students with trustworthy teaching opportunities.

Built around a growing network of university student tutors, the platform focuses on connecting family needs with tutor capabilities while developing a more transparent, reliable, and efficient tutoring experience.

Helping families find suitable tutors while giving capable university students an opportunity to be discovered.

02 · Background

Tutoring information is traditionally fragmented across personal referrals, group chats, social platforms, and local service providers.

Families often struggle to evaluate a tutor’s educational background, academic strengths, teaching experience, and overall suitability. At the same time, university students lack a stable and trustworthy channel for presenting their capabilities and accessing relevant teaching opportunities.

Jingbian Tutoring uses a digital platform to connect families with university student tutors and reduce the cost of discovery, evaluation, and trust building.

Rather than operating as a conventional training institution offering standardized courses, the project focuses on connecting university tutor resources with families seeking personalized educational support.

03 · Product Positioning

Jingbian Tutoring is positioned as:

A trusted tutoring service platform connecting families with university student tutors.

The platform primarily serves:

  • Families seeking suitable tutors for their children;

  • University students with strong academic backgrounds and an interest in teaching.

The project aims to improve the efficiency of tutoring-resource discovery while building long-term trust among families, tutors, and the platform.

04 · My Responsibilities

As the founder and product lead, I have been responsible for the complete journey from initial business concept to product implementation and early operations.

My responsibilities include:

  • Defining the project’s positioning, direction, and target users;

  • Researching the needs of families and university student tutors;

  • Planning the overall product experience;

  • Leading mobile product design, development, and iteration;

  • Using Vibe Coding to validate the early product;

  • Coordinating product, technology, and regional operations;

  • Building the university student tutor network;

  • Supporting brand development and user growth;

  • Iterating based on feedback from real users;

  • Making key product and business decisions.

Throughout the project, I have worked simultaneously as a product manager, entrepreneur, and early-stage operator, balancing user value, product experience, and long-term sustainability.

05 · Progress

Jingbian Tutoring has achieved the following early-stage results:

  • Built an initial network of more than 2,000 university student tutors;

  • Developed and validated an early mobile platform;

  • Established an initial product system connecting families, tutors, and platform services;

  • Created service and feedback mechanisms for real users;

  • Formed an early team covering product, technology, and regional operations;

  • Continuously validated the platform’s positioning through real tutoring needs;

  • Completed an initial transition from manual services to a digital platform;

  • Continued expanding tutor resources across multiple cities and universities.

These results demonstrate the availability of a substantial university tutor supply and provide a foundation for building a more stable family-service and tutoring network.

06 · Challenges

Two-Sided Marketplace Cold Start

A tutoring platform must develop family demand and tutor supply simultaneously. Compared with tutor acquisition, building genuine and recurring family demand requires sustained brand development and trust.

Trust

Tutoring involves students, families, and offline teaching. Families need confidence that tutors are reliable, while tutors need assurance that opportunities are genuine. Trust is therefore fundamental to the platform.

Service Quality

A strong academic background does not automatically guarantee teaching ability. As the tutor network grows, the platform must continue to focus on communication skills, responsibility, and actual service quality.

Regional Expansion

Cities differ in family demand, university resources, tutoring expectations, and service habits. The platform must adapt to local conditions while maintaining a consistent product position.

Digitalization and Human Service

Tutoring is highly personalized. Digital tools can improve connection efficiency, but complex needs, relationship building, and exceptional situations still require human judgment.

07 · Vision

Jingbian Tutoring aims to build a more transparent, trustworthy, and efficient tutoring network centered on university student tutors.

The project seeks to give capable university students a fairer opportunity to present their knowledge, skills, and sense of responsibility while helping families in different regions access suitable educational resources.

In the long term, Jingbian Tutoring aims to:

  • Reduce information asymmetry in the tutoring market;

  • Provide families with more trustworthy tutor choices;

  • Create teaching and personal-development opportunities for university students;

  • Enable university education resources to move across regions;

  • Build a platform capable of serving families and tutors over the long term;

  • Return tutoring to its essential values of companionship, responsibility, and genuine learning growth.

Helping every family find the right learning companion while giving every capable university student the opportunity to be seen.
