01 · Project Overview

Paisheng Competitions was a university student competition training and development platform I founded during my undergraduate studies.

The platform served university students across China who wanted to participate in academic competitions, innovation projects, and professional practice.

It provided competition guidance and project support across more than 50 recognized competition categories, including innovation and entrepreneurship, art and design, computer science, electronic design, and other discipline-specific competitions.

Helping university students transform academic knowledge into competition projects and long-term capabilities.

02 · Background

University competitions are an important component of talent development in Chinese higher education.

At some universities, high-level competition awards contribute to comprehensive evaluations, scholarships, innovation assessments, and postgraduate recommendation policies. Under specific institutional policies, top national awards may also create significant academic-development opportunities.

However, students participating in competitions for the first time often face substantial information and experience barriers:

  • The number of competitions makes it difficult to select a suitable event;

  • Evaluation criteria and submission requirements vary significantly;

  • Students may have technical knowledge but limited project experience;

  • Teams may struggle with topic selection, collaboration, and project execution;

  • Promising ideas are not always transformed into complete projects;

  • Written materials, presentations, and defenses can influence final performance;

  • Access to competition resources differs across universities and regions.

Paisheng Competitions aimed to reduce these information and experience gaps by providing more systematic support for students from different universities, majors, and academic levels.

03 · Product Positioning

Paisheng Competitions was positioned as:

A multi-category competition training and project-development platform for university students across China.

The platform focused not only on awards but also on the long-term capabilities students developed through competitions, including:

  • Identifying and defining problems;

  • Applying academic knowledge to real scenarios;

  • Planning and implementing projects;

  • Collaborating with students from different disciplines;

  • Organizing and communicating complex information;

  • Presenting project value;

  • Responding to judges through presentations and defenses.

The objective was to help students gain more than a single competition result and develop skills applicable to research, postgraduate study, employment, and entrepreneurship.

Paisheng Competitions covered more than 50 recognized university competition categories.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

These competitions typically evaluate innovation, social value, business models, team capabilities, and development potential.

Representative directions included:

Computer Science

Electronic Design

Electronic-design competitions emphasized hardware, embedded development, control systems, and engineering practice.

  • Sensors and the Internet of Things;

  • Automatic control;

  • Intelligent hardware;

  • Signal processing;

  • Robotics and mechatronics.

Discipline-Specific Competitions

The platform also supported discipline-specific and technical competitions, including programming and engineering events such as the Lanqiao Cup.

These competitions were closely connected to students’ academic programs, professional skills, and future development directions.

05 · Service Value

The platform did more than introduce students to individual competitions. It helped students develop clearer competition strategies and stronger project capabilities.

Its value included:

  • Understanding the characteristics of different competitions;

  • Selecting suitable events based on academic background and personal objectives;

  • Improving topic selection and innovation awareness;

  • Transforming fragmented ideas into complete projects;

06 · My Responsibilities

As the founder and project lead, I was responsible for the development of Paisheng Competitions from market research and product positioning to team building and service delivery.

My responsibilities included:

  • Researching the national university competition ecosystem;

  • Identifying student needs and market opportunities;

  • Defining the platform’s positioning and strategic direction;

  • Planning services across different competition categories;

  • Establishing competition research and content-update mechanisms;

  • Coordinating mentors and project resources across disciplines;

  • Designing competition-training products for university students;

  • Coordinating students, mentors, and project teams;

  • Managing project progress and service quality;

  • Supporting brand development and national university outreach;

  • Iterating products based on student feedback;

  • Making key operational and strategic decisions;

  • Building a team structure capable of supporting multiple competition categories.

Throughout the project, I worked simultaneously as an education product manager, project leader, and entrepreneur.

07 · Progress

During my undergraduate studies, Paisheng Competitions progressed from early validation to stable operations.

Key outcomes included:

  • Establishing coverage across more than 50 recognized competition categories;

  • Supporting university students from different regions and academic disciplines;

  • Covering innovation, design, computer science, electronic engineering, and other professional competitions;

  • Helping student teams transform early ideas into complete competition projects;

  • Supporting students in achieving competitive results across multiple events;

  • Building a cross-disciplinary network of competition mentors and project resources;

  • Developing education products for different competition categories;

  • Establishing team mechanisms for competition research and student support;

  • Validating genuine demand for university competition training;

  • Accumulating experience in education-product design, team management, and entrepreneurship.

The project achieved strong service outcomes without relying on a single competition category or academic discipline.

08 · Challenges

Competition Diversity

Competitions differ in evaluation criteria, submission formats, project timelines, and defense methods. The platform needed to understand these differences while maintaining consistent service quality.

Academic Diversity

Supporting entrepreneurship, design, computer science, electronics, and other professional competitions required access to mentors and resources from different disciplines.

Differences in Student Backgrounds

Students came from different universities, majors, and academic levels, with varying knowledge, project experience, and available time.

Educational Value and Competition Results

Competition outcomes are influenced by project foundations, team commitment, competition intensity, and judging standards. The platform needed to support strong results while preserving genuine student development.

Scale and Service Quality

As the number of students and competition categories increased, maintaining guidance quality became an important long-term challenge.

09 · Vision

Paisheng Competitions aimed to build a professional competition and innovation-practice platform for university students across China.

The project sought to reduce differences in access to competition resources across universities, regions, and disciplines, enabling more students to receive high-quality project guidance.

In the long term, Paisheng Competitions aimed to:

  • Help students discover suitable competition directions;

  • Reduce information barriers to high-level university competitions;

  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration;

  • Develop innovation, implementation, and communication capabilities;

  • Connect competition experience with research, postgraduate study, employment, and entrepreneurship;

  • Build a broader support network across universities and disciplines;

  • Transform competitions from short-term award pursuits into long-term capability development.
